Toby KeithSince emerging onto the contemporary country music scene in 1992, Toby Keith has gained superstar status in the ranks of Garth Brooks and George Strait. With numerous hit singles (many hitting the number 1 spot in the country charts) under his belt, including “Should Have Been a Cowboy,” “Who’s That Man,” “How Do You Like Me Now?” “I Wanna Talk About Me,” and “Courtesy of the Red White and Blue,” Keith has cemented his reputation as one of the most popular country acts of the 1990s and 2000′s. Born and raised in Oklahoma, Keith grew up listening to Merle Haggard and Bob Willis, and after high school, played music in local honky-tonks while working in the oil fields. His big break came when a demo tape landed in the hands of a music producer who helped him sign his first major label deal. In 2001, the Academy of Country Music honored him with the coveted Male Vocalist of the Year title, and also named his 1999 release How Do You Like Me Now?! Album of the Year.
